TV’s very own Prachi Desai who has successfully moved to the big screen does not mind coming back to the small screen space. Talking to the press during the promotions of her latest romcom, ‘I Me Aur Main’ with John Abraham and Chitrangada Singh, she said, “I would love to judge a reality show as I don’t want to do anything that I have already done on TV (she has been seen in the daily soap Kasamh Se and has been the winner of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa). If anything interesting comes along, I will surely take it up. The reach of TV is huge and it is used by Bollywood to not only promote their films, but also to gain personal popularity as well.” Prachi is happy that Bollywood is finally beginning to accept TV as the stepping stone, as opposed to beauty pageants which feel otherwise. “The transition of TV stars to Bollywood is starting to happen now, with Ayushmann Khurana, Yami Gautam (Vicky Donor) and Sushant Singh Rajput (Kai Po Che) and few more. When I made the transition I was the only one to make it. TV guys need all the support as we are good actors and working in the TV format has given us the basic experience. All these actors who have made a smooth transition to the big screen are good in terms of talent when compared to many new comers,” averred Prachi. The beautiful actress went on to admit that her Bollywood journey post the release of Rock On, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and Bol Bachchan was not easy. “There was a phase where they were not ready to accept TV actors in Bollywood; I was not looked as a heroine at all. I am here because Rock On worked. But I had a lot of struggle as nobody is ready to give you a role, be it big or small and you really have to prove yourself. Also, I had to be very careful in not giving my fans a cultural shock, e.g. if I had done the hot and sexy ‘Naa Jaane Kahan Se Aaya Hai’ song (I Me Aur Main) right at the start, people would have said what has happened to our Bani (her character in Kasamh Se). I knew that I had to change my image, albeit slowly. Luckily since I was young, I knew I had age on my side. I started my TV career at 17 and did my first film at 19, and I feel it is really good for a beginning.” We wish you a great career ahead, Prachi.
