Abhishek Bachchan starts signing up for remakes of his father's hit films

Since the last twelve years, Abhishek Bachchan has been turning down remakes of his father’s (Amitabh Bachchan) films in fear of being compared and eventually being run down. Now no more, Abhishek has changed track and has apparently decided to reprise Amitabh's role from the 1980 comedy Do Aur Do Paanch. Shashi Kapooor’s role in the film would be played by Bobby Deol. Produced by Kunal Kohli, the film will be directed by newcomer Akshaye Puri. In an another development, Zila Ghaziabad director has fulfilled his wish and has signed the Jr. Bachchan for his upcoming film based on the 1981 made blockbuster Kaalia. Abhishek will reprise the role his father played in the film. Earlier too, Abhishek has worked in films that reminded one of the veteran Bachchan, in the Karan Johar-produced Dostana, for instance. Back in 1980, Amitabh acted in a film with the same title that was produced by Karan's father Yash Johar had Shatrughan Sinha opposite the mega star then. The sequel to Johar's film, which also stars John Abraham, will go on the floors this year (2013).
