Last week began on a cheerful note but ended on a very sad one. One of the best things that happened on the small screen through last week was the emerging of the final 12 contestants on the very widely watched Indian Idol. Sony has got this one near-perfect. This season definitely looks better and bigger than all the previous ones. Super voices, confident contestants and some great performances! That’s all that one wants from a show like this. I promise to keep watching this one till the very end.

Another one that has caught my attention is Keshav Pandit. A very unlike Balaji show this one is well crafted, slick and gripping. With this Balaji has stepped out of its comfort zone and succeeded. If it manages to retain the quality the production house will be back with a bang.
And by gosh, the item girls on another channel were all spilling out from their tight tees and hot pants, not to forget those I can kill you with these heels stilettos! The first task they got was to lay their hands on as many (frightened) hens as possible with Kashmera (Shah’s) arch rival Sambhavna Seth getting home the maximum number. The show with its catfights (yes, with claws drawn) looks as ‘real’ as some of the other reality shows we have seen! And with the buzz doing the rounds that Kash is one of the finalists, I wonder whether it’s fair for the other chicks. But then whoever said life is fair and reality shows are real!
As for Star’s success story Pratigya the show that completed 100 episodes is still managing to keep viewer interest alive with its intriguing story line and good performances. With some more twists and turns coming up things are going to continue to look up for the show.
And for all CID loyalists the longest running detective show on Sony is now a bi-weekly and has introduced some new faces. This show is indeed a great watch and despite whatever else comes in at that hour, the CID takers veer back to this one in time.
But unfortunately after spending some happy hours on TV one awoke to a sad Saturday morning. The news of the Air India plane crash at Mangalore airport was being flashed across news channels. Gory images of charred bodies and the completely destroyed fuselage engulfed you through the day and beyond. More so when the list of those who perished kept scrolling on your TV set what caught your attention was the world ‘Child’ that appeared after almost every alternate name. It was such a cruel twist of fate that all those little excited kids who must have boarded the ill-fated flight eagerly awaiting their summer vacations left on their final journey and how…
TellyChakkar pays its condolences to all those who lost their loved ones. RIP.
