60th National Film Awards announced

The prestigious 60th National Film Awards were announced yesterday (18 March 2013). Here’s let’s talk about the winners… <em>Paan Singh Tomar</em> (Hindi) directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia was declared the Best Film. Irrfan Khan has emerged as the Best Actor for his performance in the same above film.

The prestigious 60th National Film Awards were announced yesterday (18 March 2013). Here’s let’s talk about the winners… Paan Singh Tomar (Hindi) directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia was declared the Best Film. Irrfan Khan has emerged as the Best Actor for his performance in the same above film. Said Disney UTV Managing Director Studios Siddharth Roy Kapur, “We are proud and honoured that Paan Singh Tomar has been conferred with the National Award for Best Feature Film and Best Actor. Tigmanshu Dhulia and Irrfan Khan are the two architects of this film and have literally put their blood, sweat and tears into bringing the poignant tale of Paan Singh Tomar to celluloid. This is a huge honour for our entire team at Disney UTV, which has worked consistently over the years to bring audiences cinema that is entertaining and thought provoking, and I would like to thank the National Awards jury for recognizing these efforts”. The Best Actor award was also shared by Vikram Gokhale for his role in the Marathi film Anumati. The Best Actress award was bagged by Usha Jadhav for her performance in Dhag (Marathi). John Abraham’s debut production Vicky Donor bagged the National Award for Best Film in wholesome entertainment of the year. Observed Eros International Sunil Lulla, Managing Director said, “Vicky Donor has won the award for the best film providing wholesome entertainment, which is most apt. Equally deserving are Annu ji and Dolly ji for winning their respective awards for their outstanding performances. I congratulate the entire team of Vicky Donor on receiving this wonderful and prestigious honor”. The award for the Best Director has been conferred on Shivaji Lotan Patil for the film Dhag (Marathi). Sujoy Ghosh won the award for Best Screenplay for his Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani. The ward for the Best Supporting Actor has been conferred on Annu Kapur for the film Vicky Donor. Chittagong (Hindi) and 101 Chodiyangal (Malayalam) have shared the Indira Gandhi award for the Best Debut Film of a Director.
