How Sweet: Amitabh Bachchan offered a FEE-CUT as makers were facing FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS during the making of Jhund!

MUMBAI: ns were eagerly waiting for director Nagraj Manjule’s upcoming film Jhund.

The film will see Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. He will be sharing the screen with Sairat fame actors Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru. The teaser of the film was recently launched on the social media platform. Talking about the teaser, it opens with a group of people playing drums on the street. The next frame shows Amitabh Bachchan entering the screen in his trademark style. The film is based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer. In the film, the actor plays a professor who motivates street children to form a football team.  

Producer Sandeep Singh, in a conversation with Mid-day, said that Big B offered to take a fee cut when the makers were struggling with the budget. He revealed that Amitabh Bachchan, who is also an ardent football fan, loved the script so much, that he and his staff took a pay-cut.

He said, "Mr Bachchan loved the script. When we were figuring out how to bring him on board, given the film’s [modest] budget, he stunned us by cutting down on his fee. He said, ‘Instead of spending on me, let’s spend on the film.’ His staff too slashed their fees."

However, the film still faced financial issues. Their woes were finally over after T-series heard the script and decided to finance the movie.
