MUMBAI: Actress Sangeeta Adhikari has done many tv shows and films, currently she is part of Sony TV's historical show Punyashalok Ahilya Bai. She is playing the role of Ahliya’s mother Sushilabai. Sangeeta shared the very interesting story behind the replacement of her character. Before the leap, Sushila Bai's character was played by Sulakshana Joglekar.

Sangeeta Adhikar quoted on this “This is my destiny; I remember 1 and half year back when the show was about to start I had given the audition for this particular character and everything was finalized,but something happened and the role was offered to Sulakshana. I really wanted to play this kind of role. But kahate hai na agar aapke naseeb hoga toh  phir se milega. Exactly same happened with me, After the leap I got a call from a production house and casting director Kuldeep Anand called me but I was busy with some other work, So I did not go for an audition . But they had my 2 year back audition clip on that basis they finalized me. So it's all about my luck after around 2 year I got this role to play.

She never had played a historical show, which is different from others , you need to work on your language , performance and costume . For that Sangeeta watched the film Bajirao Mastani’s Priyanka Chopra character more than 50 times.

Sangeeta says “I had never played historical shows, when I saw my look the 1st thing I remember is Kashibai from Bajiro Mastani, same way Priyanka Chopra wore saree and other part of the costume and jewellery . For that reference I watched it multiple times to just understand the look. For sure my character and Priyanka Chopra's character is different . But, it really helped me to get into proper character and work on language because it is Marathi touch. It is very challenging and I'm so happy to be part of this show.
