MUMBAI: Alia Bhatt’s debut as a producer with ‘Darlings’ proved to be a positive one and the film has received thumbs up from the OTT audience. However, a few netizens pointed out how expensive and excessive branding was made a part of the narrative.

An internet user pointed out how Alia Bhatt’s character in the film uses a premium brand’s cosmetic product while she comes from a lower middle-class background. This conversation saw mixed reactions from netizens who agree that Alia’s character aspired to grow in the film, while others bashed the ‘terrible brand positioning’.
This year, Alia Bhatt completed a decade in films. Thoughtfully reflecting on her journey of 10 years, Alia was quoted saying, “When people ask me, would you go back and change anything about your life, I always say I genuinely have no regrets. I have nothing that I would change in the past because the person I am today is because of all the steps I took in the past.”

The much-awaited film Darlings finally released on Netflix on August 5. The black comedy-drama film is co-produced by Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
The film also stars Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew in important roles. Darlings marks the second collaboration between Bhatt and SRK after the 2016 film Dear Zindagi, where the duo starred in lead roles.
