Lapataganj 2 might face initially hiccups - Sucheta Khanna

Sucheta Khanna is excited about the return of her hit SAB TV show Lapataganj. “This is one of most special successful shows of my TV career. I am glad to get a chance to play Indumati again and hope that I am now able to do better than last time around.” She has no problems playing the same character all over again. “I look at this differently for I approach every scene in a unique way. So there would be much more for me to explore as an actor playing Indumati in season 2 also.” Remembering her three and half year long stint in season one, she said, “I learnt a lot. There were several stories which were completely on my shoulder to enact. I really had to work hard there, but the end result was great. Many other times we hardly have dialogues, but the reactions we give are very important.” Sucheta is happy with the six months break between seasons. “Actually for us artists, the break has not been more than three or four months. We knew by Feb/ March that we will be back, so that the actors can get enough time to complete whatever other assignments they had had taken up or re-adjust their dates accordingly.” She added, “This gap was also good for us as last year we were really strained due to tough outdoor shooting conditions (mid-day temperatures would shoot up to 41degrees) and telecast issues.” “As for the viewers, I hope that they tune in again after the break, but we are hopeful for we received lots of requests to restart the show, when it had shut down. Certain fans said that they can’t sleep without their daily fix of Garima Dheer’s interpretation of the satirical writings of well-known Hindi author Sharad Joshi. But yes, I do agree that initially we might have some hiccups as the public needs to again get used to watching the show all over.” When asked to comment on why the show was taken off-air in the first place, she reasons, “There were several technical factors and also let’s face it the rating numbers were not rocking either. May be the seeding of digital TAM boxes at the time in four metros also harmed our cause. It was interesting to note that after the news of our end came the rating of the last 2 weeks were quite high. But by then it was too late as the other show had already been announced.” Sucheta, may you rock again as Indumati.
