MUMBAI :Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for giving his fans out of the box and different stories. Although the films eventually talk about love in a way, the stories are unique and touch the heart. His films like Black, Devdas, Padmaavat, and the recently released Gangubai Kathaiwadi are proof of this.

SLB is now all set to make his digital debut with the upcoming web series tired Heeramandi. The project has been very close to his heart and he is leaving no stone unturned to make it a grand one.

The series will have Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha and Sharmin Segal in main roles. Now there is news that he has signed on veteran actress Farida Jalal for the series. The actress is a well known name in the industry and has been part of successful Bollywood films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Laadla, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, and many more.

 Farida was last seen in Saif Ali Khan starrer Jawaani Jaaneman and Ittu Si Baat, will play a pivotal role in SLB’s series. Netflix announced the series in August last year on their official social media page and wrote, “We are excited to announce that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi IS COMING TO NETFLIX Words aren't enough to explain how excited we are that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is partnering with us for this epic Netflix Original series but these emojis come pretty close#Heeramandi #SLB #Netflix.”

Heeramandi is an actual place in Walled City of Lahore, Pakistan, and is the red light area of the city. The series will feature the vibrant life of the courtesans of the place. Fans are super excited to see the director finally coming on the digital platform. Although all the episodes of the series will not be directed by him, only a couple of them will be.
