TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to know about the amazing experience he had while working for the movie and the web series.
In the past, there have been a lot of controversies that movies were involved with. The same has happened to Ram Setu too. What’s your take on it?
It’s not that I’m for it or against it. In India, it’s very easy to voice your opinions because you can come on social media, post your opinions on it and troll people. It’s fair. However, you shouldn't post anything against it if you haven't watched the film yet. At least, one should watch the movie, post their opinions and let people decide. Having an own perception about something before experiencing is a problem, not only in case of films, but also in life. If I haven’t met you but I have my own perceptions about you already, that would be unfair to you. It is a different thing if I meet you and later form an opinion about you. However, you should get your facts right for why you like the movie or why you don't. So yeah, it’s unfair when one comments even when they don’t know the story.
How did you feel about Ram Setu and Four More Shots releasing on dates so close to each other?
First of all, I’m very excited and I feel October is a very good month for me because both the web series and the movie are very different from one another; be it the kind of audience they cater to, the kind of subject it has, and even the character which I’m playing in both the projects are poles apart. I’m playing a Haryanvi person in the web series while in the movie, I’m playing a Tamil person. While one role is slightly funny, the other one is filled with action. So, if you see me in a project now and then see me again after 3-4 months in some other project you might not remember me. But, if you see giving a back-to-back performance, you might think that the actor really has something in him, which is why he is getting these many projects. This situation of mine actually works in favour of the actor. Therefore, there’s no clashing but I’m very excited.
Four More Shots Please being a women-centric show, what made you take the role and what did you think about it?
The magnitude of the show is huge. I did not know earlier that this show is really this big. The moment I tell anyone that I’m a part of this web series people get excited. So, that was a big deal for me. Even though I had one scene, I enjoyed doing it. Even when I watched it, I felt really good. There was an acting teacher, whose methods are famous. His name was Konstantin Stanslavisky. He quotes, "There are no small parts, only small actors.” Which means that actors are small, the characters aren’t. If the actor really has the potential, he/she can turn a small part into a big one, doesn't matter if the scene is just for 10-15 seconds. If you are great at it, you will stand out and people will notice you.
Did you have any reservations before entering the series?
I was very excited. I would like to thank Trishan and Shubham who casted me, for considering me for this role. Also, I'm really thankful to Shruti Mahajan for casting me in this project. I was supposed to shoot this around in the first week of April 2020 but then the pandemic happened, so it was rescheduled to October and then again it was pushed to December. There was pandemic situation in January and February too. So, finally I had my shoot in August last year. It took quite long even for the show to release. I’m not sure, but I think this is the only series on Indian OTT platform that has its 3rd season. That just shows how invested people are and how much they’re looking forward to watch it.
Tell us about your upcoming projects?
This year has been really good in terms of projects releasing. I’ll be coming in ‘Tera Chhalaava’. It’s a series that has Kabir Sadanand, Kavita Kaushik, and even Vedika. That was the first release of the year. It is followed by Four More Shots Please, Ram Setu and ‘Farzi’, which is I think Shahid Kapoor’s debut series in December. Farzi will be a massive project and Rajan DK is directing it.
