MUMBAI :  Faltu is a drama television series produced under Boyhood Productions, starring Niharika Chouksey and Aakash Ahuja. It premiered on 2 November 2022 on StarPlus.

The story revolves around an unwanted girl, named Faltu, after her parents' frustration at the birth of a fourth girl when they wanted a boy.

Faltu harbors a love for cricket, playing with various improvised bats like sticks and brooms, further drawing mockery in the village. Things change when she crosses paths with a young coach Ayaan Mittal, who is a businessman visiting her village for business. He notices her talent despite bad first impressions, and thus begins a new journey in her unacknowledged life.

Rajat Verma plays the grey shade character of Siddharth Mittal, Ayaan’s younger cousin.

Tellychakkar recently got in touch with the actor and got to know interesting insights.

How do you feel about playing a grey-shade character?

“I have always wanted to play a negative role. The negative characters have a lot of depth in their character and get to explore a lot. There is not much to explore when you play one shade or a positive character. You get to explore your dark side when playing a negative one. So that is what I am getting to do here.”

Actors who play negative or grey-shade characters tend to face backlash a lot. How do you plan on dealing with that?

“I am going to go with the flow because as an actor I just wanted to explore it for myself. I wished to take this as a challenge for myself because I have always played a positive character and got much love from the audience. But as an actor, I wanted to explore something else. I am ready for whatever comes my way; it would only mean that I have succeeded in portraying my character well. I will feel it is reaching out to the audience and they are reacting to it.”

How is your rapport with your co-stars?

“I did most of my scenes with Rakhee, who plays my mother. She is a fabulous person and has amazing energy. Even on the first day when we started shooting, she came onto the set with great energy. She is very senior to me and I learned a lot from her. I learn a lot from Mahesh Thakur as well, who plays my father. I haven’t had as many scenes with Aakash Ahuja so did not get a chance to interact as much. I think he is an introvert so he doesn’t talk much. I have had great conversations with the rest, gelling up well and it is a lot of fun. I just miss that there are not many people of my age here. But that is okay, it is an experience.”
