If you are not ready to fight for that top spot, then you don't find a place in today's rat race: Vishal Dadlani

Vishal Dadlani
While we were on the sets of Indian Idol Junior (Sony Entertainment Television) the other day, we chanced upon talking to one of the judges, dashing and dynamic Vishal Dadlani. In a small chat with us, this music personality and playback singer speaks about the competition that affects young kids. Avers Vishal, “Firstly, I wish to make it very clear that no kid contestant in this reality show has come even close to attempting suicide due to pressure, for we know that they are meant to be treated delicately. The one thing what we judges including my partner Shekhar and Shreya Ghoshal keep telling them repeatedly is that this show is a mere halt in their journey which really has no impact on the bigger picture. Rather than that, they need to realise that they should love music and if they can do that, music will pay back their love in a way that is eternally rewarding.” “A musician is never alone; the craft that he is attached with, keeps him company when he is alone and lonely. The main thing what we want is that these kids should learn to understand the privilege of having music in their life and not just win the competition.” There is competition in this too? “Yes, if there is competition among sportsmen, why not in such a competition. The kids must learn to compete and it is good. Just look at the extremely high percentage of participation and what the recent results are throwing up; they are indeed scary. Hence, if you are not ready to fight for that top spot, sorry you don’t find a place in today’s rat race.” “So, if you wish to survive out here, it is important that you learn to compete and do well. The important thing what healthy competition teaches you is to embrace failure and not get dejected by it. Even the great basketball player Micheal Jordan had failed more than 3000 shots at the baskets and he missed as many as 12 game changer baskets, but he chose to fight on,” he argues. Well said, Vishal!!!
