AUDIENCE PERSPECTIVE! The netizens feel the need of more experimental shows; say the era of “saas-bahu” shows need to end

MUMBAI : Indian television shows have been a part of the audience's daily lives for a long time now. Over time, the type and platform of content changed a lot but people still wish to go back to television dramas and call it their comfort zone.

Indian television shows have usually the same old plot line revolving around families and marriages. Only a few shows have not been afraid to experiment and stood out.

Television shows have been going on for a long time now and the over the years it feels like only the people and sets have changed. Another factor is that the picture quality has increased. But the stories and tracks are still the same old. The same “saas-bahu” drama has been going on for years.

The audience has become so used to it that experimental shows don’t even work most of the time.

The netizens have expressed disappointment regarding the same. The audience feels the need for more experimental shows and to start a new era with no “saas-bahu” shows.

Here is what they had to say:

Priya Banerjee: The Indian television shows are so done and dusted with their plots and themes. They somehow end up becoming a typical Indian drama with “saas-bahu” issues. We need to see better and more experimental content.

Sanjana Ghosh: I wish the makers experimented a little more because I am so bored and done with the usual shows. There is nothing new and the plots keep going on endlessly. The backgrounds and characteristics of the character might differ, but the plot lines are on similar lines.

Rupali Mehra: I understand that the experimental shows haven’t worked that well in the past but like the makers have made the audience watch the “saas-bahu” drama, they can make the audience watch new types of shows too.

Taniya Mishra: In this day and age where there is a plethora of content, why are Indian shows still so far behind? The world has moved so ahead in the game of shows and we are still lacking. It feels really bad that the makers are not experimenting as much.
