MUMBAI : Shriya Saran is currently enjoying the super success of Drishyam 2. Earlier, this year, we saw her in one more blockbuster film, RRR. In SS Rajamouli’s directorial, Shriya just had a cameo but left a mark with her performance.
TellyChakkar recently spoke to the actress about the South and Bollywood industry, RRR’s cameo, and more…
A few years ago, in an interview, you said that you don’t believe in the Bollywood or Telugu industry; for you, it has always been Indian cinema. Did you see the future as today South films are doing well in Hindi, and the glass ceiling has been broken?
Language is not a barrier anymore. If the story is good and the actors are good it works. People love the actors and the performances. Recently, I was at a cafe and someone came and told me that they watched my film which is about floods, and I told them ‘oh you are talking about Gamanam’. It was a film that was made in Telugu, so they saw it and loved it, and it didn’t matter which language it was in. So, I feel like it’s a great time.
You played a very small role in RRR, and your fans must have been a bit disappointed that they didn’t get to see you in a bigger role. So, what do you have to say about it?
I am just happy that I worked with Rajamouli sir. I will work with him again and again whether it's a small role or a big role. I was so happy that he took me in that role; that one shot was so disturbing for me to do. It’s always great to be a part of someone’s vision which you know is strong, beautiful, and intense. So, it doesn’t matter how many days you have been on the set, but the whole environment charges you. It kind of puts you in that place where you want to do your best.

There have been reports about RRR 2; do you wish to be a part of the film?
I would love to be a part of it, but I don’t know if there’s part 2. Like I have always said, if Rajamouli sir is doing anything, I would love to be a part of it.
