MUMBAI :Siddharth Bodke is known for playing the role of Jagtap in Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin and this year he was seen playing a pivotal role in Drishyam 2. The actor has been receiving praise for his performance in the Ajay Devgn starrer.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Siddharth and spoke to him about box office pressure, upcoming projects, and more…
This year, not many films have worked at the box office, especially the remakes. Were you a bit nervous that Drishyam 2 which is your first Bollywood film will work at the box office or not?
Not at all I wasn’t thinking about it. All these things come later when you have been in the industry for many years and you have already given many hits. But, for me, it was my first Bollywood film and I was not thinking about the commercials; I was just thinking about my role.
We have usually seen that actors coming from the Television background and Marathi films don’t get lead roles in Bollywood movies. While actors coming from down South are getting the lead roles in Hindi films, that’s not something we see for the actors coming from Marathi cinema. Do you think that needs to change?
It’s a very complicated question. But, I will speak for myself. Personally, Drishyam 2 is my first Bollywood film and of course, I want to do a lead role. I think it’s your luck maybe and there are a lot of factors involved. Now, there’s an OTT revolution, so there are a lot of options and opportunities now. So, in a way, it is changing and new faces are also getting a chance. So, let’s hope for the best.est.
Tell us something about your upcoming projects…
I am doing a play for now with a very prestigious theatre group. I have one more film (Hindi) and I will start shooting for it in February next year. And now, I am getting some offers, so, let’s hope I get something better. So, for now, I am doing that film and theatre, and there are talks for two more films. I am just hoping for good work and a lead role of course.
