We are sure that you remember the very pretty looking Esha Kansara who made her TV debut with Colors’ Mukti Bandhan. Well, this attractive girl is back on small screen after a hiatus of more than a year to play a bhabhi (sister-in-law), Kritika, this time in Star Plus’ Meri Bhabhi (DJ’s A Creative Unit).
Talking about her break from TV, she states, “I was waiting for a good show as my first one (Mukti Bandhan) was well appreciated. Apart from that, I also had to complete my graduation and I am a graduate now (smiles). I had missed college while shooting for Mukti Bandhan, but when the show went off-air, I got back to studies. My father always wanted me to complete studies.”
The actress not only got busy with academics, but also groomed herself as an actor, “Yes, I have groomed myself. Living in Mumbai is not easy, but with the help of a few friends from the industry, I worked on myself. I needed to bring about a change in my looks because I now want them to know me as Kritika, having known me as Devki earlier (in Mukti Bandhan).”
During her break, Esha also experimented with theater, as she goes on to add, “When you’re working on a show, you tend to live that character and I wanted to get out of that experience. Therefore, I joined Gujarati theatre. I think theatre is the best way of learning acting and reinventing oneself.”
How different is Kritika from Devki? “Devki was a strong-headed girl while Kritika is also strong; she has a very bubbly side too. Both of them come from a well educated background. Devki did not share a good relationship with her husband, while Kritika has a beautiful bond with her life partner. The only thing that both my roles have in common is that they are positive,” Esha observes.
Actors are usually apprehensive about taking up a role where they would have to share screen space with another lead protagonist. And Esha had reservations too, as she states, “I did have second thoughts, but when I met my producers, they explained me the story well and I had no questions to ask after that. Apart from that, Kanchi (Kaul) and I get along really well. I am just two years old in this industry and she has been for such a long time. But, in spite of that, she has never made me feel that I am new.”
“We share common hobbies and thoughts. In fact, when we are not shooting we are constantly sharing pictures, videos and talking over the phone. So, I have found a friend in her. In fact, everybody on the sets is a good friend now. Even Supriyaji (Pilgaonkar) and Kawaljeetji (Singh) are a part of all the masti on the sets,” she adds.
And what is the USP of Meri Bhabhi? “Usually there is some bitterness amongst the sister-in-laws in our TV shows, but we are here to break the norm. They can be happy together under the same roof. In our show, the situations will only be negative but not this nanand-bhabhi jodi (bonding between the sister-in-laws).”
So, is the actress still single? “Yes, I am very much single; I am just 20. Hence, I am concentrating on my work at the moment. Apart from that, I have no time to meet new people.”
We wish you luck Esha!!!
