MUMBAI :Cyrus Sahukar is known for hosting shows on TV, in movies, and in web series. He has been entertaining one and all for the past many years and was recently seen in the web series Potluck season 2.
TellyChakkar interacted with Cyrus and spoke to him about what he enjoys more, his upcoming projects, and more...
You have done hosting and acting, and you are mainly known for doing comedy as everyone still remembers you for Semi Girebaal. But, what do you enjoy more hosting or acting?
I used to enjoy game shows. I started at 18 and different people have different memories, like for instance for you it is Semi Girebaal and there will be a whole section of people who will remember me for hosting game shows. For me what I enjoyed was the acting process because when I was in school the first thing was acting for me, and then I moved into hosting, and hosting helped me form my own personality. In the acting space, I just hope I have a little more variety come my way, I wish I get roles that are interesting and quirky. Also, I love hosting, but it is a very solitary job.
As we are talking about Semi Girebaal, would you like to go back and do something in the similar zone?
I get that all the time and my inbox is full of people saying that they want to see more stuff like this. I remember during lockdown at home, I started making videos from the perspective of a dog called Moti. I haven’t been able to sit down, get the scripts in order, and get them made. But, I have shot two pilots of a series where they have got a lot of great comedians together to do a lot of sketch comedy which is my favourite thing in the world to do. I hope that those get made and they get sanctioned, so I can go back to that kind of world.
Tell us something about your upcoming projects.
I have shot a lot of hosting jobs. I am doing a show currently for National Geographic called It Happens Only in India, and then I am doing another travel show. I am also looking for something which will cast me in a slightly different light since three back-to-back releases happened which are more family dramas or sitcoms. So, I haven’t gone and signed anything that I start shooting immediately.
