MUMBAI: On OTT, we get to watch different genres of shows. From romantic to thriller to horror, every genre of show is available on multiple platforms. There’s one more genre that has been explored well on OTT and that is political dramas.

City of Dreams

City of Dreams revolves around a political family named Gaikwads. The show stars Atul Kulkarni, Priya Bapat, and Eijaz Khan. Two seasons of the show have already premiered and now, soon season 3 will be out.

Tandav

Saif Ali Khan and Dimple Kapadia starrer Tandav received a good response. However, the political drama was also embroiled in controversies and reportedly, season 2 of the series is not happening.

Maharani

Huma Qureshi impressed one and all with her performance in Maharani. It revolved around a housewife becoming the Chief Minister after her husband was hospitalised. Two seasons of the show are already out and now, everyone is waiting for season 3. 

Queen

Before Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi, the story of late politician Jayalalithaa was shown in the OTT series Queen. The show starred Ramya Krishnan in the lead role and it had received a good response.

Dark 7 White

In 2020, Sumeet Vyas was seen in a very interesting political thriller which was titled Dark 7 White. It received a good response.

Stories revolving around politics don’t need to always be dramas or thrillers. An OTT show titled PM Selfiewallie starring Nityaami Shirke was actually a comedy show set against the backdrop of politics.

Rangbaaz season 3

Vineet Kumar starrer Rangbaaz season 3 was also a political drama. The show revolved around a gangster turned politician.
