MUMBAI: This year, we have already watched a few films that were based or inspired by real life incidents. While some impressed the audiences, some failed to leave a mark. Now, one more film based on a true incident is all set to premiere on OTT. We are talking about Manoj Bajpayee starrer Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai.
Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai is based on an incident that happened in 2013. A 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a Godman and she filed an FIR against him. The case went on for five years, before the judgment was given. From FIR to court proceedings, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai showcases the journey of the case and how lawyer PC Solanki (Manoj Bajpayee) fought to give justice to the girl.
The movie is written by Deepak Kingrani, Suparn Varma is the creative producer, and it is directed by Apoorv Singh Karki. All these men together have come up with a brilliant film. Though Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai is based on a true incident, it also talks about a very sensitive topic of minors being sexually assaulted or raped.
The film puts the light on POCSO Act (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) of 2012. You might have read a few things about it, but the movie surely goes in-depth with the topic and discusses some important points about it.
Apoorv Singh Karki, who is known for his OTT series Aspirants, makes his Hindi film directorial debut with the movie. If you have watched Aspirants, you would know that he is a good director, but he has fantastically narrated Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai.
The movie has the perfect amount of drama and emotions to keep you hooked throughout. It is not easy to make an engaging courtroom drama, but Apoorv, Deepak, and Suparn succeed in it. The only drawback of the film is that in between, in a couple of scenes, just for a few minutes, the pace of the movie becomes slow. There’s no major flaw here when it comes to writing and direction.
Manoj Bajpayee has won three National Awards till now for his performances in movies like Satya, Pinjar, and Bhonsle. Now, he should get ready for his fourth National Award. The actor has undoubtedly given one of the best performances of his career. In the climax, he will make you clap as well as get some tears in your eyes. WHAT AN EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE! Surya Mohan Kulshrestha, who plays the role of Baba gets less scope, but he is good in his part. Vipin Sharma also leaves a mark with his performance, and even Kaustav Sinha grabs our attention. A special mention to Adrija Sinha who plays the role of Nu (victim) in the film! She has performed really well.

Also, the background score in the movie is pretty good. Just perfect!
Overall, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai is a must watch. It is clearly the best film of the year till date, and Manoj Bajpayee should get ready to win awards for his performance in the movie.
