MUMBAI : In 2018, Netflix came up with an anthology titled Lust Stories. It had four segments directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar. The anthology received a good response as these directors surely stepped out of their comfort zone and created something no one expected from them.
Now, Lust Stories 2 has started streaming on Netflix. This time R Balki, Konkona Sen Sharma, Sujoy Ghosh, and Amit Sharma have directed the four short stories. So, is Lust Stories 2 worth your time? Find out in our review below...
R Balki
R Balki is known for his light-hearted movies that give big messages. So, that's what he does in his segment. It talks about why having sex before marriage is important. Of course, it's still a topic of debate in Indian society, but Balki has presented it beautifully. Neena Gupta and Mrunal Thakur are simply wonderful in this segment, and Angad Bedi and Kanupriya Pandit also leave a mark.
Konkona Sensharma
After A Death In The Gunj, everyone was waiting to know what will Konkona Sensharma direct next, and here she is with Lust Stories 2. She gets two of the best talents in the industry, Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subhash, and delivers an actual Lust Story. Clearly, from all four segments, Konkona's segment is the best one, and what an exceptional performance by Tillotama and Amruta!
Sujoy Ghosh
There's no doubt that Sujoy Ghosh is one of the best directors we have in the industry, but his segment is quite predictable. The only thing that works in his segment is the sizzling chemistry between Vijay Varma and Tamannaah Bhatia. We would surely love to watch them in more films together.
Amit Ravindernath Sharma
We have been missing a good suspense thriller whose climax would leave us like, "What The F*uck just happened?" and Amit Ravindernath Sharma serves us that. Kajol shines here and Kumud Mishra does his part wonderfully. But, our only concern about this segment is that a few scenes, the ones having skin show are not shot aesthetically. Those scenes more than Lust Stories look as if we are watching Gandi Baat. However, if we keep those few scenes aside, after Konkona Sensharma's segment, it is Amit Sharma's work that steals the show in Lust Stories 2.
Overall, while Lust Stories 2 has a good amount of lust, these filmmakers have perfectly got the drama, comedy, and suspense in this anthology.
Ratings: 3.5/5
