Trial Period Review

MUMBAI:  Movie Trial Period, which has Genelia Deshmukh, in the lead is indeed one of the much talked about movies when the poster was out. The movie, which also has a great cast like Manav Kaul, Gajraj Rao, Shakti Kapoor, Sheeba Chadha, Swaroopa Ghosh, Barun Chanda and Zidane Braz is directed Aleya Sen. The fans were looking forward to the release of the movie as it promised a different and unique concept of renting father on trial period.

Today, finally, the movie has hit the digital platform Jio Cinemas.

The movie deals with a single mother, who is a divorcee staying with her son. Well, everything goes well until the son demands to rent a father on trial period of 30 days. Later, comes a rented father played by actor Manav Kaul. Well, what sort of father he turns out to be and whether he is able to make his mark in this family is shown in the movie.

The screenplay of the movie is strictly average and concept is good. But, the writing is poor and direction given by Aleya Sen is strictly decent.

The movie is out and out a Genelia Deshmukh and Manav Kaul show. They both have carried the entire movie on their shoulders. Well, it was great to see actress Genelia Deshmukh on-screen after a long gap. On the other hand, actor Manav Kaul will surely bring tears to your eyes with his honesty in performances. Other cast members like Gajraj Rao, Shakti Kapoor, Sheeba Chadha and Swaroopa Ghosh were decent on their part.

Talking about the positive points, it has to be the concept of ordering father on rental bases. Well, the storyline is good and unique, something that hasn't been seen in movies before. Also, Genelia Deshmukh brings brightness with her lively performance and actor Manav Kaul’s innocence is nicely captured in the movie. Also, the movie speaks about the importance of relationships and throws light on the concept of parenting, which is indeed the USP of the movie.

Having said all that, there are many more negative points of the movie. The screenplay is strictly decent and makes you bore a little in between. Also, in spite of having a good concept, the storytelling is poor. Also, there are a few portions where we see Genelia Deshmukh’s weak performance. The songs in the movie look a little forceful. The major blunder is that the movie ends on an abrupt note; there should have been a proper climax to it. Also, unfortunately we can see great talents like Gajraj Rao, Shakti Kapoor, Sheeba Chadha, Swaroopa Ghosh, Barun Chanda and Zidane Braz getting wasted in the movie.

Well, having said all these points, movie Trial Period is indeed a good watch, only if you are Genelia Deshmukh and Manav Kaul fan. Other than the concept, the movie offers nothing major.

Team Tellychakkar goes with 2/5 for the Trial Period.
