MUMBAI: A clip from an old interview of Kiara Advani and Ram Charan with Rana Daggubati has resurfaced on the internet. The clip features Kiara Advani struggling to name all five South Indian states. Ram Charan is seen laughing and assuring Rana Daggubati that she will not be able to name all the states down South.

Kiara Advani made her debut in Telugu with Mahesh Babu’s 2018 film Bharat Ane Nenu. She later teamed up with Ram Charan’s Vinaya Vidheya Rama, which turned out to be a box office disaster. The clip is from a promotional event ahead of the film’s release, where Kiara was put on a spot by the two Telugu stars.
Rana Daggubati starts off the question by saying that there are actresses from the North who don’t know the language but have worked in many Telugu films. Kiara says that has changed ever since Baahubali was released.
Ram Charan quickly asked her to name the four states and four languages of the South. Kiara said, “You always do this.” With a lot of effort, Kiara names Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, but struggles with Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
While many in the comment section wondered why the actresses don’t learn the language, a user pointed out the problem is with the heroes and filmmakers who don’t cast local talent.
“Kiara was very weird in this episode and it was disrespectful but what I don’t get is RC (Ram Charan) and Rana lamenting about how actresses don’t know anything about the southern states and how they have worked with them. I mean, these two have so much power in the industry.. why couldn’t they actually cast Telugu actresses? Unless it is a highly established actress, most producers will cast a Telugu girl if these men put their foot down. Even Allu Arjun gave speeches about giving chances to Telugu girls but I highly doubt he will follow it up through actions (sic),” read the comment.
Kiara hasn’t acted in a Telugu film since Vinaya Vidheya Rama. However, she is now returning to the industry again with Game Changer, which marks her second collaboration with Ram Charan.

Directed by Shankar, the film has SJ Suryah, Jayaram, and Nasser in pivotal roles. Thaman S is composing the music for the film.
