Earlier a plump Annie had auditioned for the role of Sanyukta in <em>Prithviraj Chauhan</em>. But due to her weighty issues she lost the chance of playing the lead in the show. A disappointed Annie followed vigorous work out sessions and concentrated on her diet to lose weight.

This sure caught the Sagars' (Producers of Arslaan) attention and her weight loss gained her the lead role as Rudabeh, Arslaan's love interest.
