I want to come out of the Balbir Kaur image and show the world that I can do diverse roles - Tanya Abrol

Tanya Abrol better known as the rugged Haryanvi Balbir Kaur in the super hit hockey film Chak De India is looking forward to the next season of her popular Disney channel show Best Of Luck Nikki. “As of now re runs of season 2 are being aired, but we will soon start airing fresh episodes of season 3, the shoot for which has commenced. The best thing about doing seasonal shows like this is that we shoot in advance, so there is no pressure to deliver the episodes.” Talking about her character (Pam) in Best Of Luck Nikki Tanya says, “She is completely different from me in real life. While Pam is more bothered about looking good, I was more interested in extra circular activities back in school. One more reason why I accepted to do this dumb blonde role is because I want to come out of the Balbir Kaur mould and show the world that I can do all kinds of roles.” Besides TV, Tanya is also waiting for her Punjabi film Love you Soniyo starring Karanvir Bohra, Teejay Siddhu to be completed. “I play Teejay’s friend who helps her get her man. As of now since producer Karanvir is busy doing Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa(season 6), we have no idea when the film will hit the theaters. The movie has to soon get to the post production stage,” she states. Ask her what went wrong with her character in Sony Entertainment Television’s Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, and she quips, “I had fractured my foot, so had to quit early. I have no regrets, for whatever has to happen will happen. It was a good show as it ran for a decent time and the show had its fan following as well.” Looking ahead, Tanya is open to doing good work on the small and big screen, “Films are priority and if I get one, I might not be able to take up full-scale television roles.
