MUMBAI: Zoya Akhtar’s musical The Archies might have gotten mixed reviews but the cast members’ performance was appreciated by all. The film starred Agastya Nanda, Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, among others and Aly Khan played the antagonist Hiram Lodge.
Aly has now opened up about his experience of working with the star kids. Speaking of attending the screening in Mumbai he said, “Of course, this was a screening for friends and family and well-wishers, but the vibe I felt that evening, while watching the film with an audience, was outstanding. That was my genuine feeling,” he said, admitting that the same people could have gone home and changed their minds about the film later, and were just masking their true feelings. “But during the screening, and even after it, whoever I spoke to — and all of Bollywood was there — the feeling was fantastic, everyone was gung-ho about the project.”
Further dismissing the notion that the star kids were handed over the opportunity on a platter, Aly stated, “This is what people assume. Shah Rukh has come from a very modest background, so it makes sense that the upbringing that he has given, and must be giving his children reflects that. Boney Kapoor’s family is not new to stardom. Sridevi was a huge star, so it’s nothing new to these kids. Aggy has also come from a family of stars; nothing was new for anyone. If anything, they were all under pressure to live up to the expectations, so there was more humility rather than attitude.”
