Tamil Telugu version of Kahaani titled Anamika scheduled for Dussehra release

Endemol India’s bilingual (Tamil and Telugu) venture Anamika directed by Sekhar Kammula is scheduled to release this Dussehra (2013). Anamika, an adaptation of Vidya Balan’s hit film Kahaani stars Nayantara who plays the role that Vidya reprised in the above Sujoy Ghosh-helmed film. Excited about the project, Nayantara comments, and “It’s an honour to have worked with a critically acclaimed and award winning director like Sekhar. I am thrilled to be a part of this project which gave me an opportunity to play the lead protagonist of a strong female character. With a completely new look in Anamika, I hope that the audiences would appreciate the film and my role.” Incidentally, with Anamika Sekhar is making his debut in Tamil cinema and is for the first time directing a remake. The director, who plans to complete the filming of this saga by mid-July, is currently filming Anamika at a fast pace across Hyderabad on real locations. Commenting on his latest venture, Sekhar observes, “My love and passion for movie making gets bigger and better with a film like Anamika. This adaptation in design and appearance of the characters is completely different and I hope it excites my audience. It’s always challenging to make interesting movies and Anamika is a challenge I have thoroughly enjoyed.” Anamika marks the debut of Viacom18 Motion Pictures in the Telugu and Tamil market and is being produced by Endemol India, Logline Productions Pvt. Ltd and Select Media Holdings.
