MUMBAI: Sunil Dutt and Nargis' love story has always been inspirational. They made us believe in the power of true love. Did you know that their love flowered after a tragedy? Sunil had played Nargis' son in the cult classic Mother India. A welding torch had caused the entire sets of the film to burn down and in the middle of the flame was Nargis.

Did you know aeons later their love story would inspire the makers of Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone film Om Shanti Om? The film was Deepika Padukone's debut movie and she flew wings with her career. A scene from the movie was inspired by Mother India's fire tragedy that had taken place involving Sunil and Nargis. For the unversed, the Piku actress in the film is shown as a heroine who is caught in the fire on the sets of her film and SRK who plays a junior artist saves the lady in distress. Farah Khan reportedly was inspired by the epic love story of Nargis and Sunil.
Farah Khan's film was notable as it showcased the beauty of the 70s and 90s that was there and in the modern era, the film has done justice to the golden era of Hindi cinema. Deepika and SRK's love tale in the film was no less than Nargis and Sunil Dutt's love story.
