Dipika Kakar is grateful to her mother and mother-in-law for never giving unnecessary advice on how to raise her son Ruhaan

MUMBAI : Dipika Kakar conveyed her appreciation to her mother and mother-in-law for their helpful parenting style of her son Ruhaan. She valued their lack of demands and meddling during Ruhaan's formative years. Dipika emphasized that she had the luxury of remaining at home and made the decision to truly embrace motherhood, taking a vacation from the performing industry.

Dipika spoke about her experience as a mom saying, “If I talk from my point of view, I would say that I am this generation mom. I had to do things with my kid in a certain way. My mother-in-law never came and pressurized me, ‘No, we do this and that. You do this only’. This happens in many homes. And it is a challenge for a lot of mothers to convince that I don't want to follow this method. Shoaib and I just had to explain to Ammi once. Even my mother, there’s a difference in how you communicate and accept the newness. If that thing is understood, then the journey of the parent group becomes easier.”

She added, “I had to do things with my kid in a certain way. My mother-in-law never came and pressurized me, ‘No, we do this and that. You do this only’. This happens in many homes. And it is a challenge for a lot of mothers to convince that I don't want to follow this method. Shoaib and I just had to explain to Ammi once. Shoaib said, “There are many things that our mothers would do for us like making a kid drink lentil water. But nowadays, doctors don’t suggest that. There are many preexisting thoughts and notions. But now things have changed and there have never been any conflicts in regards to that. Our family has been very understanding.”

Thanking her mom, Dipika said, “And my mom has been a huge support to me, a lot. I think mom was also waiting for this time in her life. And mom as of now is completely free. Mom would always come, stay, take so much care of Ruhaan. Both my moms understood the change in the whole thought process.”
