MUMBAI: Sushmita Sen is a proud single mother to two daughters. She is a person who never hesitates to challenge social standards and speak her opinion. The actress recently talked about the same thing in a new interview, saying that she wanted to give herself a pat on the shoulder for raising the children so lovingly.
In an interview with the popular news portal, she revealed, “I want to give myself a pat on my back as a mother every day. That’s self-love. I am not someone who has to be told ki aap kitni achchi maa hai. I already know that (smiles)! Being a parent was a different experience at different age groups. It was challenging throughout because I have done it alone.”
She added, “And so, the perception that ‘Oh! She is Sushmita Sen, and she can do it,’ is not true. It is harder to be me and do it. It has been a very gratifying experience. I often say that I am as old as my children, so it is not like I know more than them; I am learning everyday with them.”
When asked about how motherhood changed her, she further added, “Being a mother has given me a sense of purpose. It’s far greater than being a creative artiste and far greater than anything else I have done in my life. It gives me this feeling that something will live on as love after you are done and dusted.”
Sushmita Sen has two romantic relationships: one with actor Randeep Hooda from 2004 to 2006, and another with model Rohman Shawl from 2018 to 2021 rumors of a rekindling based on public appearances.
Her connection with businessman and IPL founder Lalit Modi came to light in July of 2022. In a 2023 interview with the popular news portal, she talked back on her brief relationship with Modi, brushing off the criticism that some had directed at her after he publicly acknowledged their relationship on social media by posting pictures of their trips together.
In the meantime, Sushmita just dazzled the audience in Aarya Season 3 Part 1 with her strong performance. She portrays a strong woman in the show who defends her family from crime. The first season received an International Emmy Award nomination for "Best Drama."
