MUMBAI : The well-liked television show ‘Kumkum Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan’ marks a milestone this month. The family drama is still regarded as a cherished part of television history 22 years after its debut. Actor Juhi Parmar gained popularity as Kumkum, posted a touching video on Instagram to mark this significant occasion.
Juhi posted a long note and a video of herself pulling off Kumkum's look. The daily soap opera's title theme was also included in the video.
Juhi reminisced about the show and wrote, "22 years, and it still feels like yesterday! Kumkum is a name that has become synonymous with Juhi. Until date, when I walk on the streets, many of you address me as Kumkum. The song still gives me goosebumps as it brings back so many memories, memories of 7 years of shooting, of the wonderful scenes and of the camaraderie all of us shared (sic)."
She continued, "And I am getting emotional as I write this because I can’t imagine what life would have been like had Kumkum not happened. I am ever so grateful to this show that has given me so so so much love from all of you, it’s truly priceless! (sic)."
Juhi added, "And so here begins a week of the celebration of Kumkum, as we complete 22 years on July 15th, and we shall share love for Kumkum, together because without you this journey wouldn’t have been possible! Shukriya (sic)."
The main character of 'Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan' is Kumkum, a devout daughter-in-law whose life completely falls when her husband Jatin (Anuj Saxena) passes away from a brain tumor. Her brother-in-law Sumit (Hussain) marries Kumkum to protect her from societal disgrace, and the two later fall in love.
Kumkum' debuted on Star Plus on July 15, 2002, and had a seven-year successful run. In addition to Juhi, Hussain Kuwajerwala, and Anuj Saxena, the show also starred Alka Kaushal, Arun Bali, Malini Kapoor, and Shishir Sharma.
