Ankit made his acting debut in the 2008 film Ramayana as Laxman. After then, he continued to work in a number of shows, such as Ashoka, Razia Sultan, Ek Ghar Banaunga, Phir Subah Hogi, and Jyoti.

Ankit revealed, “The last show where I played a meaty role was Alif Laila. It was a dream role for me as it was the first protagonist role after a streak of constant negative leads. Playing the protagonist was a challenge but I was eager to take it up. Unfortunately, the lockdown had other plans and the show had to be shelved.”

He further added, “But I'm grateful for the experience and the opportunity to have played such an iconic character, even if it was for a short time. It will always hold a special place in my heart.” After this, he thought of trying his hand at something new. “I took a break to explore other sides in this creative entertainment field. These two years were a much-needed break and I’m grateful that I got to explore another creative side as a producer, where I produced a show and learned a lot of things.”
