Abhishek Bachchan’s debut film was to see him as a Pakistani terrorist; Dad Amitabh Bachchan did THIS

MUMBAI : In 2000, Abhishek Bachchan made his screen debut in the movie Refugee. The actor has been in a number of intriguing films since making his Bollywood debut 24 years ago. With his roles in Dhoom, Yuva, Sarkar, Dus, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehnaa, Guru, Bunty Aur Babli, Paa, Dostana, and a number of other films, the actor won over audiences. Kareena Kapoor Khan appeared in JP Dutta's film Refugee, which was somewhat successful at the box office. AB's performance in the movie, though, received a lot of attention.

However, were you aware that Refugee would not mark Abhishek Bachchan's feature film debut? The actor had committed to work with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in the movie Samjhauta Express. AB was going to play a terrorist from Pakistan who is enraged and wants to get revenge on India in the film. Abhishek was excited about the idea and even prepared by keeping a journal about his persona for a year.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra disclosed in an interview with Shiv Talwar that Abhishek's character intended to exact revenge on India for fabricating his father's terrorist label. In the end, the Guru actor's character dies. According to Mehra, the film industry believed that the actor would be playing with fire if he played a Pakistani terrorist in his first picture. As a result, three months ahead of schedule, the shoot was canceled.

Prior to this, Abhishek Bachchan spoke openly about his project alongside Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra with Galatta Plus. The Happy New Year star recalls discussing the film with his father, Amitabh Bachchan. Big B however called it a ‘Bakwas’ script and asked his son to get out of the fim.
