In the most recent podcast hosted by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, John Abraham talked about his difficult time before breaking into Bollywood. John revealed that he joined a company where he was paid Rs 6,500 after completing his MBA. After that, he was given a promotion to media planner at an advertising company.

The Vedaa actor elaborated on it by saying that he later took part in the Gladrags Manhunt Contest in 1999, where he was judged by Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, and Karan Kapoor.

John, whose take-home salary was Rs 11,500, remembered winning the competition and receiving Rs 40,000 in cash prize. The actor recalled how he was surprised to win the "huge amount."

The 51-year-old actor was then asked about his expenditures and how he managed to survive with limited money. He shared, "My expenses were very less. My lunch would have 2 chapatis and dal fry; this was in 1999, and my food used to cost 6 rupees and 25 paisa."

The Vedaa actor remembered that because he used to work late hours at the office, he would eat breakfast at home and then skip dinner. In addition to food, he spends money on bike petrol. John thought back to the days when he would use a train pass to travel and didn't have a cell phone.

The actor disclosed that when he first started working, he would put his money into equity-based mutual funds. Vedaa is helmed by Nikhhil Advani, and is slated for release on August 15, which is Independence Day. In significant parts in the movie are Tamannaah Bhatia, Sharvari Wagh, and Abhishek Banerjee. According to reports, the next action-drama film is based on true events.
