MUMBAI: Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus has ignited the internet with early reactions that paint a promising picture for the long-standing sci-fi horror franchise. After the first screening in Los Angeles, critics and fans alike are lauding the film for its return to the gritty, atmospheric horror that defined the original Alien. Early viewers are all praises over the film’s masterful blend of homage and innovation. Germain Lussier of Gizmodo describes it as a “bonkers roller coaster ride” through the franchise’s history, while Courtney Howard of Variety hails it as “gnarly, gripping & gorgeously bleak”, Tessa Smith of Mama’s Geeky goes so far as to say it “pays perfect homage to the original,” praising the extensive use of practical effects.

20th Century Studios India will release ‘Alien: Romulus’ on August 23, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, only in cinemas.
