MUMBAI : Recently, Marathi filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi's sixth-floor Mumbai apartment was the scene of a startling theft. The suspect, who was taken into custody in relation to the incident, admitted robbing the filmmaker of his money so he could get narcotics.

The film director lives in Andheri (W), and a robber broke into his sixth-floor apartment and took Rs 6,000. Aniket Gounder, a 22-year-old guy, was taken into custody in this case on August 28.

The accused, according to the police, climbed the security grill to get to the fifth story, then went to the sixth floor and, on August 25, fled by the same path. Joshi's apartment was equipped with CCTV cameras, which recorded the entire episode.
The director's daughter and son-in-law were asleep in another room when the director's cat heard the thief and started to make noise. They awoke upon hearing the cat's screams and began yelling, "Thief! Thief!" The thief had to run because of the ruckus. Mumbai police claim that he stole Rs 6,000 before making his getaway.
An official stated that the police were able to identify the offender with the use of CCTV video. The accused were apprehended from Kapaswadi, Versova, approximately 2 km away from Joshi's home, by Inspector Jaywant Shinde, who led the investigative team headed by DCP Raj Tilak Roshan.
The cop revealed, “When we caught him and interrogated him, the accused revealed that he bought drugs with the stolen money. The accused is a drug addict.”
