MUMBAI : The actor Esha Deol made her film debut during a period when star kids frequently received big "launches." Dharmendra and Hema Malini's daughter Esha recently disclosed that her father supported her desire to act in movies and intended to marry her off when she turned 18. Esha acknowledged that it took her some time to persuade her father, but in the end, he gave in.
Speaking of her father Dharmendra, Esha said, “He didn’t want that I should enter the movies. He is a bit orthodox, rightfully so… He is a Punjabi father, and he wanted that we should get married, settle down at 18. That is his conditioning, he is coming from a place where all the women in his house were brought up that way. But my upbringing was very different.”
Speaking of wanting to get into films, Esha said, “I knew I wanted to be someone, but it took a while to convince him. It was not easy, but today is a different story.”
She added, “My grandmother was very strict. We were not allowed to wear spaghettis and short skirts and go out. We were not allowed many late nights,” Adding that she became rebellious. “There was a phase where I would lie to go out on late nights. I have done all of that. It’s not like I haven’t done that and it used to be fun too.”
