MUMBAI: Diwali is a significant festival for all, celebrated in unique ways that reflect personal traditions and customs. Actress Kamya Panjabi, who portrays Mohini in Sun Neo’s popular show Ishq Jabariya, recently shared insights into her Diwali celebrations and extended warm wishes to her fans.
Reflecting on her Diwali festivities, Kamya Panjabi said, “Diwali is always special – it’s family time, celebration time, and a time for lots of sweets. I absolutely love card parties, but for the past two years, it hasn’t been possible. I’ve either been busy with work or traveling to Delhi. I feel a bit sad because I miss celebrating in Delhi; I usually split my time one year in Delhi and the next in Mumbai. So, because of this, I end up missing the card parties. But yes, as I said, it’s a time for family, celebration, and joy.”
The Ishq Jabariya actress added, “We don’t burst crackers, though. Just for tradition’s sake, we might light a few sparklers, but we want to keep the environment clean and avoid pollution. Also, we’re mindful not to cause discomfort to animals. Instead, we light plenty of diyas, invite everyone over, and have a fun gathering at home. We dress up and enjoy ourselves to the fullest.”
Kamya also urged everyone to support street vendors this Diwali season, sharing, “To my fans, I’d also like to say: celebrate Diwali and try to support our street vendors – those who set up small stalls along the road. Buy diyas and rangoli items from them. Let’s bring smiles to their faces too; that’s when Diwali will truly be meaningful. This is what I do every year. When I go to buy diyas, I make sure to get something from a local vendor. It’s always fun chatting with them!”
In Ishq Jabariya, Kamya plays Mohini, the aunt of Aditya (Lakshay Khurana). The show follows the heartwarming journey of Gulki (Siddhi Sharma), a lively young woman with big dreams who faces unexpected challenges on her path to love and self-discovery.
