“I know so many girls who are skinny and still struggling”, RRKPK actor Anjali Anand opens up on facing body shaming

MUMBAI: Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor Anjali Anand, who is currently making waves as Radhika in Raat Jawaan Hai recently shared a candid moment during a year ender roundtable discussion with a publication. Known for her fierce and confidence personality, Anjali opens up about the worst piece of advice she’s ever received.

Recalling the incident, Anjali shared, “The worst advice I’ve ever received was when someone told me, ‘If you lose weight now, you’ll look better.’ I asked them, ‘Is there a problem with how I look now?’ and they responded, ‘No, but you’ll look better.’

Being body-shamed she elaborated further, saying, “I have never, in my life, thought of myself as lesser than anyone else. I am the most confident person in any room I walk into, and I’ve always been that way. I have no issue with the way I am, but there has always been this narrative that ‘you can achieve more if you lose weight.’ The truth is, I know so many girls who are skinny and still struggling.”

“I, on the other hand, am thoroughly enjoying the work I’m doing. I’ve learned that patience is key in this line of work—if you’re consistent and persistent, everything eventually falls into place,” she adds.

Anjali’s statements highlighted the societal pressures faced by women in the entertainment industry. By staying true to herself, she has continued to challenge the conventional beauty standards.
