MUMBAI: Every once in a while, a good comedy-drama takes you on a helluva ride of laughter, clean comic dialogues, and emotions, and Alaya F did just that with her Bollywood debut film, 'Jawaani Jaaneman'. In the modern film era, where Bollywood kids are constantly under the lens of labels, Alaya F turned out to be a trailblazer and made a striking debut in 2020 with a comic caper, and also won a Filmfare award. She starred alongside Saif Ali Khan and Tabu among others, and played the role of Tia - Saif Ali Khan's on-screen daughter. By making a debut with a comedy-drama film, Alaya F soared past the predictability of starring in a romantic film and delivered a drama to remember. As 'Jawaani Jaaneman' clocks five years since its release, Alaya F reflected on making her debut alongside well-established actors and working under the direction of Nitin Kakkar.
Reflecting on her choice of maiden film, Alaya F shares, "Jawaani Jaaneman will always be the most special film of my career. It was my debut, and that alone makes it unforgettable. But beyond that, everything about it felt perfect—the character, the cast, the director, and the entire experience of shooting it. Tia was so much like me, and getting to bring her to life alongside stalwarts like Saif Ali Khan, Tabu Ma’am, and Kumud Sir, under the direction of Nitin Kakkar Sir, was a dream. Every single day on set was filled with joy. I felt so nurtured and valued, never like a newcomer who didn’t know what she was doing."
She added, "The audience welcomed me with so much love, and the industry made me feel accepted in a way I could have only hoped for. Jawaani Jaaneman gave me the confidence I carry with me today, memories I will cherish forever, and relationships that will always hold a special place in my heart. Every time I think of this film, year after year, all I feel is gratitude."
While 'Jawaani Jaaneman' witnessed a decent run at the box office, its songs left cinephiles in a frenzy. Meanwhile, Alaya F not only won over the audiences with her smooth performance but also emerged victorious in winning over the critics, earning rave reviews for her act. After 'Jawaani Jaaneman', Alaya thrilled the netizens with her brilliant portrayals in films like 'Freddy', 'Srikanth', and 'U-Turn' among others.
