When asked if her father ever supported her in this, Lakshmi Manchu said, “Never. He was too scared. Coming from a patriarchal mindset, they are overprotective of their girls that they should get married. My dad said it in interviews...I told my dad whatever you tell me at home don’t go be telling in the...they’re not going to think highly of you daddy but here I am breaking stereotypes and hopefully somebody will find the strength to find their inner strength for whatever it is that they want to do through this interview then my job is done.”
