After facing embarrassment for scheduling the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the same time as the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a legal notice to a Mumbai Indians (MI) star. The notice comes just six days before the start of the 2025 IPL season.
South African cricketer Corbin Bosch has become the subject of complaints from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after being signed by Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the 2025 IPL season, despite going unsold in the mega auction.
Bosch was brought in as a replacement for his compatriot Lizaad Williams, who was ruled out of the 18th edition of the world’s richest cricket league. The five-time champions moved swiftly to secure Bosch’s services, prompting the PCB’s objection.
Well, what happened was – Bosch entered his name in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft, after going unsold in the IPL auction. While this took place in January, he was among the most sought players in Pakistan's premier T20 league and ultimately signed up by Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi in the diamond category.
Now as he has decided to join MI, he surely cannot play in the PSL anymore as the two leagues are taking place at the same time. The 2025 IPL will start on March 22 with the final scheduled on May 25. Meanwhile, the 2025 season of the PSL will commence on April 11 and come to an end on May 17.
"The legal notice was served through his agent, and the player has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from his professional and contractual commitments. The PCB management has also outlined the repercussions of his departure from the league and expects his response within the stipulated time frame. The PCB will not make any further comments on the matter," said a statement by the PCB.
It remains uncertain whether the PCB will take further action against Bosch. Recently, the IPL imposed a two-year ban on Harry Brook after he opted out of the tournament, despite being bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹6.25 crore.
