MUMBAI: The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has commenced on a remarkable note, shattering viewership records on Hotstar.

With all teams striving to secure their standings on the points table, the competition remains fierce.

Amidst this high-octane environment, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli etched his name into the history books during a crucial encounter against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With RCB determined to end their 17-year winless streak at the Chepauk Stadium, the spotlight was firmly on Kohli, especially after his impressive half-century in the preceding fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Despite not delivering a dominant batting performance on this occasion, Kohli managed to achieve a monumental milestone. Battling against CSK's formidable bowling unit, Kohli scored 31 runs off 30 balls before being dismissed by Noor Ahmad.

However, these runs proved to be historic as they elevated his total against CSK to 1,084 runs, surpassing Shikhar Dhawan's previous record of 1,057 runs.

This achievement cements Kohli's status as the highest run-scorer against CSK in IPL history.

Kohli's resilient innings, though record-breaking, left him agonisingly short of two other significant landmarks. He required 55 runs to become the first Indian to reach 13,000 runs in T20 cricket but fell just 24 runs short.

Additionally, he needed a mere seven runs to join the elite club of players with 5,000 runs as an opening batter in T20 matches.

While RCB continues to chase glory at Chepauk, Virat Kohli's latest feat adds another illustrious chapter to his illustrious career.

With the tournament unfolding at a riveting pace, fans eagerly await more stellar performances from the cricketing icon.

There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is one of the finest cricketers of his era. When he finds his rhythm, he becomes an unstoppable force, capable of single-handedly steering RCB to victory.

His sheer determination, skill, and match-winning prowess make him a formidable asset, and when he is in form, few can stand in his way.
