“I Love My Haters – They Gave Me Real Fame”: Muskaan Agarwal

Muskaan Agarwal

MUMBAI: House Arrest star Muskaan Agarwal opened up about her experience navigating the harsh judgments of the entertainment world—especially for women who embrace sensual roles.

Asked whether she's ever lost out on work because of her past performances, Muskaan responded, "I don’t go around talking about rejections. If someone thinks I’m just from Ullu or ALTT or I’ve done bold scenes then I don’t pay attention to that."

She highlighted a clear gender bias when it comes to artistic freedom after doing sensual content. "Boys get more freedom. They do one-day roles, serials, experiments. But when girls do it, they hear 50 things—‘you played the lead, your budget is low, blah blah.’ So yeah, boys definitely get more chances."

Muskaan also noted how audience perception hasn’t shifted much, even as bold content becomes more mainstream. "Viewers and haters still think the same. I actually love my haters—they gave me real fame. People still want the bold girl, but they just don’t want to say it out loud."

Calling out the industry's duplicity, she didn't mince words: “Triptii Dimri does it, she gets praise. Ranbir Kapoor does it, it’s art. We do it, and suddenly it’s a problem? This double standard has existed forever."

As for the pressure to prove herself as a serious actor, Muskaan dismissed the notion entirely. "Bold and sensual scenes are tougher than normal acting. Anyone can cry with glycerin. But this is an expression game. It’s harder. And if they still don’t see the talent in it, it’s their loss—not mine."
