Our readers would be well aware of the ‘poet’ residing in the heart of actor Mohit Mattoo who pens down inspiring issue-based poems that are emotional and sensitive to the core. Earlier, we had carried out a poem ‘Nirbhaya…bhool jaana’ wherein Mohit wrote about the Delhi rape case and its young victim.
And now, Mohit emotes out his next poem on the Hindu-Muslim issue – ‘Badnaam Manzar’ rooted from the recent conflict in Jammu and Kashmir.
Says Mohit, “I feel very sad about the current situation out there. Just after the Eid prayers God knows what went wrong, the situation at one of the small towns out there took an ugly shape after which the curfew was imposed. The situation even now has not recovered. This poem of mine mourns the issue that crops up every now and then; whether it is Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Maharashtra… this is the nation’s concern. I personally feel I am a common man first and then an entertainer. On this occasion of our Independence Day, I feel the need to reach out to the masses. ‘We are one’ – Divide and Rule policy will never work, whether it is India or Pakistan.”
The poem goes like this:
Badnaam Manzar…
Uss Badnaam Tabahi Ke Manzar Se…
Bus Ek Char Saal Ke Masoom Ka..
Bus Sir He Mila Hai..Garden Tak Hi Bus..
Mathe Pe Na Koi Tilak Sa Daag Hai..
Ke Koi Hindu Hi Maan Le..
Shayad Sir Pe Topi Hoti Toh Musalma Hota..
Aur Sirf Sir Se Garden Tak Ka..
Hissa Hi Toh Mil Paya Hai..
Shinakht Ab Bhi Jaari Hai..
Ke Hindu Tha Ya Musalma Woh..
Kisi Ne Cheekh Mein Aaaa Ki Awaz Suni Thi..
Na Jane Raaaam Ka Aaaa.. Tha..
Ya Dard Mein Allaaaah Pukara Tha Usne..
Par Kuch Log Hain Jinhone..
Hindu Maan Liya Hai Usko..
Kuch Aur Bhi Hain Jo Usse Bas..
Musalma Jaantey Hain..
Bus Ke, Kafi Hai Itna Hi..
Woh Badnaam Manzar
Doharane Ke Liye..
Remarkable work, Mohit!! May the poet in you blossom to write many more inspiring works.
