Thanks to Chennai Express, Nargis Fakhri’s dialogues get subtitled in Madras Cafe

Nargis Fakhri
While we were still rejoicing in the news that Nargis Fakhri would be speaking in her own voice in Madras Café, all her dialogues would be subtitled in Hindi. Apparently the original idea was to just ...you know...let her have her say in the language that she and her character of the war correspondent are comfortable in. Then came along Chennai Express where Deepika Padukone spoke a lot of Tamil. Without subtitles. Most viewers, even those who loved the film, cribbed about the excess of indecipherable Tamil in the film. Taking their cue from Deepika’s Tamil experience the makers of Madras Cafe have decided to put Hindi subtitles to all of Nargis Fakhri’s dialogues. Confirming this director Shoojit Sircar says, “Nargis will speak in English. All her dialogues would be accompanied by Hindi subtitles.”
