I wasn't given time to prove myself: Raj Singh

The programming change on Sahara One has led to the decision of shutting down Entertainment Hub’s Piya Ka Ghar Pyara Lage. And one person who suffered the most in the bargain is Raj Singh aka Bitto from the show. The actor, who was seen playing pivotal roles in serials like Mukti Bandhan, Baba Aiso Var Dhoondo and Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, replaced Giriraj Kabra as the lead in Piya Ka Ghar Pyara Lage. However, he had no inkling that the project will be shut so early and he wouldn’t get time to prove his mettle. The actor is hurt with the channel’s decision and also with the fact that the production house did not inform him in advance. “If the show had to go off-air in just 15 days from the time I started shooting they shouldn’t have replaced the lead at all. However, I feel bad for Giriraj Kabra who has been associated with the show for such a long period of time,” averred the actor. “I wasn’t given time to prove myself either. I have been standing as a puppet in the show all this while as the story is going a different way at the moment. I had felt the story would focus on me but, then the news of the show going off-air has come much before that,” he added. So, didn’t he know that the soap was under scanner? “When the production house finalized me, they did not tell me about all this. They were sure that that the show would run at least till October or December. Had I known about this, I would have never taken it up,” he answered. When we inform him that there were stories about his girlfriend and co-star Shalini S Sahuta being influential in roping him in the show, he rubbished the claim stating, “It’s a joke! Had we been that influential, we would have been the producers of the show. But, nevertheless any publicity is good publicity.” What’s next? “We will be shooting for a couple of days after which I will pay some attention to my family as I lost my father recently. In a couple of weeks I will start auditioning for new shows,” he informs. We wish you luck Raj!!!
