Viewers witnessed ravishing beauty Veebha Anand play the role of a prostitute in Bindass’ new show Yeh Hai Aashiqui over the weekend.
Talking about her role in this show produced by Lost Boy Productions and BBC Worldwide Productions, an elated Veebha said, “It was very challenging for me as I have never played a hooker before.”
On asked whether she was not afraid of her image getting hampered by playing a prostitute, she averred, “No, I always like to push the envelope when it comes to the character graph. It did not take a minute for me to give my nod for this role. Even my fans were happy to see me trying something different.”
Veebha informed us that her entire perception towards women in the flesh trade has changed. “Prior to doing this show I would have not even stood in front of a sex worker. I now realize that no woman becomes a prostitute out of her own will. Circumstances force them down this path.”
“Like my character also said in the episode, every prostitute wants freedom from this vicious cycle .One more thing what I learnt was while these red light area girls have no option, certain liberated women in upper classes have no qualms in using men to make money.”
On sex workers falling in love, Veebha stated, “I truly believe that love can move mountains, and if a man truly loves a prostitute he will be able to make her leave this sordid business. Here I would like to add that no one has a right to pass judgement on others and the concept of right and wrong is a very personal call.”
Talking about her costumes Veebha said, “They were not bold but yes you can call them cute and jhatak. But yes I will never wear them in real life.”
Veebha unlike many other women does not bat for the legalization of the oldest profession of the world. “Rather the Government should provide meaningful employment so that women don’t need to resort to sell themselves to earn their daily bread.”
Great thoughts, Veebha!!!
