We expected a mixed review for Shuddh Desi Romance- Parineeti Chopra

Shuddh Desi Romance may not have garnered the kind of critical acclaim that its makers were hoping for but Parineeti Chopra doesn’t look much bothered. Speaking at an event where she was present to promote Nivea’s total face clean up, Parineeti told us that she never expected Shuddh Desi Romance to get great reviews. “Yes, I know a couple of critics have given my movie only two stars but that’s okay. We were expecting more of a mixed review as we knew this film would appeal only to youngsters. Also, reviews are always mixed and can never be unanimous because every critic is a different person and his sensibilities and tastes are different,” said Parineeti. The movie which released last Friday along with Zanjeer has received a lukewarm response from movie-goers with majority of them saying that the plot was a real let-down. Billed and promoted as a youth-centric movie, Shuddh Desi Romance sees characters of Sushant and Parineeti running away from marriage more than once. When asked if she feels youth in India would do the same in real life, Parineeti said, “I am not saying every youngster runs away from marriage or are in a live-in. But the mindset of mine, Vaani and Sushant’s characters are very similar to every other youngster in this country.” Parineeti, who is a non-smoker in real life, is also seen lighting up far too many times in the movie. When asked to justify if it was alright on her part as a youth icon and a non-smoker to do the same, the actress replied, “I had to learn how to smoke for almost two weeks and it used to give me a headache every day. I used to hate the smell and the very idea of cigarettes. But I did it for the role.” Well, looking at the way her role and the movie in its entirety has panned out; it’s not too difficult to say that the movie is far removed from reality. Yet, Parineeti remains defiant. “Shuddh Desi Romance is completely real and there is nothing filmy about it,” said the feisty actress. Well, we really won’t agree with you on this one, Parineeti.
