It is difficult for south actresses to establish themselves in Bollywood - Ileana D’cruz

We are in the middle of a bustling group interview with Ileana D’cruz. Suddenly a journalist’s cell phone kept on the table rings. Ileana picks it up and says, “Hi I am Ileana D’cruz. Know me? You saw me in Barfi and will see me soon in Phata Poster Nikhla Hero.” Had the phone rang in Tollywood, just the name Ileana would have been enough. Such is her star power in the southern part of India. A very bankable and immensely recognized face down south, Ileana is slowly but steadily climbing the popularity charts in the Hindi movie industry. Barfi established her acting credentials and with Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, this siren from south is looking to explore the comic genre. Accepting that it’s difficult for southern stars to make a crossover, Ileana says that she too was insecure when she moved over to Bollywood. “I too had a lot of insecurities when I started out given the many number of pretty faces present here. But thankfully my debut film Barfi did well and gave me a lot of confidence,” reveals the pretty actress who considers herself fortunate to have received a good reception from the industry. Ileana also feels that her greatest USP lies in her individuality. “I am very particular about the way I look. I don’t want to look like a Barbie doll. I think Indian women have such lovely natural features and they look beautiful as they are,” says Ileana and also confides that many have asked her to go under the knife to get her teeth rectified. “I will never do it as I am happy the way my teeth look right now,” says Ileana confidently. With Phata Poster Nikhla Hero all set to hit theaters tomorrow, Ileana is both excited and thrilled. But the actress will have no time to rest as she has her hands full with films as next in pipeline is Main Tera Hero with Varun Dhawan.
