TV watching is all about moments. Let me begin with the ones I loved last week.
When I saw Salman Khan charm one and all with his madness as host of Bigg Boss. Khan is so good with his ‘cool dude’ behavior, it’s his easy charm that has you eating out of his hands. He reaches out to you on a personal level and no other host comes close to this.

Listening to the mellifluous Sugandha Mishra on Sa Re Ga Ma Singing Superstar, I wondered why she was wasting time doing some comedy gig for so long!
Last but not the least, the image of a sparkling Abhinav Bindra looking proud and happy carrying the Indian flag at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games had me filled with pride too. He smiled throughout and that I guess summed up how Indians are...despite all the s*** we go through, the pride we feel for our country and culture is just inexplicable.
Now some of those that had me laughing:
When Tapasya (Uttaran) without any previous experience or training got a job in a beauty salon and on day one was asked to give a hair cut to a client. And no prizes for guessing how she botched up.
Rashmi Desai’s hair and make-up in Uttaran! Please get a good stylist or else let the ‘beautician’ do her own hair and make-up. She looks a disaster right now.
When Shweta Tiwari repeatedly apologized to Manoj Tiwari (in Bigg Boss) for nominating him for elimination and even went a step further and said that she wouldn’t leave his side unless he forgave her. Tsk Tsk. The woman was making it so obvious.
Another case of make-up gone horribly wrong was Nakusha in Laagi Tujhse Lagan. Mahhi Vij’s charcoaled face is ridiculous to the extent of appearing funny. When there is a romantic sequence the lady’s dark make-up is lightened and in other shots she appears as dark as the night.
And finally the stuff that disgusted me to such an extent that I switched off the TV set!
When Veena Malik (I’m sure by now bachcha bachcha of India know who she is) on Bigg Boss is shown shaving her legs in full camera exposure. Old fashioned folks like me think that this is a very private thing and is generally indulged in a washroom …where there are no cameras. Just shows the levels these reality shows stoop to.
And the most disgusting thing that I witnessed last week was little Saloni who is barely eight being made to spout adult lines on a comedy show with references to ‘suhaag raat’. If this isn’t sick what is?
And can someone please tell me why male actors need to thread their eyebrows and wear pink lipstick? And now that I shared some of my favourite moments it’s your turn to do the same. Write in with your best/worst/funny TV moments.
